CURRENTLY OFFERED CLASSES:
All Level Gentle Yoga with Jeannette
In this all level Hatha style yoga class, we focus on bringing relief to those tired muscles and tension spots. Absolutely okay for beginners, we focus on creating space, alignment, balance and strength, with mostly simple poses. We put this together with letting go of stress through basic meditation and breathwork. We focus on the whole body, however, we concentrate on protecting knees and creating healthy backs, hips, necks and shoulders. Class is designed to teach you proper alignment and technique. This class offers modifications for those with injuries or other physical limitations. All yoga classes end with restful poses which is especially nice in the evening helping to provide you with a good night’s sleep!
Special Focus Yoga with Jeannette
These classes are offered for all levels. Each week the focus of this class changes. We offer many different workshop style classes – yoga for low back, hips, alignment or yoga at the wall or from a chair. Other focus work can include learning to fall more safely, yoga for immunity and the lymphatic system, meditation, chakras (energy channel awareness), Yin (long held poses), Restorative, and more. OCCASIONALLY OFFERED CLASSES:
Restorative Yoga
A restorative yoga class may start with a gentle warm up, leading to supported poses. Students will learn to use blocks and bolsters in order to completely release into a pose rather than actively stretching. The pace is very relaxed and mellow. The poses/asanas are designed to bring one a great feeling of calm and relaxation. Due to the individual attention given to students, this class is available to only 12 people and fills quickly, so we require that you reserve your spot with payment in advance.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a practice where poses are held longer in order to get a deeper stretch into the connective tissue. Yin reduces stress and anxiety while increasing circulation, flexibility and joint mobility. It also stills, calms, and balances the mind and body. Yin (as opposed to Yang where one actively moves from pose to pose) is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine) and accessing deeper layers of fascia. Poses done on your bottom, back or belly.
Spin, Yin & Vin
This three part Special Event class combines a spin bike warm up, a Yin Yoga practice and concludes with a little social time with like-minded individuals.
The Spin portion is a great opportunity for beginners to see what Spin class is all about! Always wanted to try Spin? Here is your chance. Spinning is a great warm up for Yin.
Yin Yoga is a very healing practice with long holds helping one go deeper than a muscle stretch. Here you will access fascia/connective tissue surrounding the bones. It is a very healing experience, physically and mentally. See above Yin description for more details!
Class concludes with time to sit with fellow students and enjoy a beverage (vin?) and light snack. We always have a pot of tea, too and whatever appetizers our participants bring! It is a wonderful opportunity to converse about whatever is necessary at the moment, whether it is offering one another support and/or humor and everything in between.
