Dear Diary,
Today marks the end of Week 7 (it feels like 100 as I have honestly lost count) of the Shelter-In-Place Order set forth by Gov. DeWine. It also marks the first day of May. Oh how I remember LOVING the month of May.
But lately, I have just been feeling dull and depressed. I know I’m not alone – (not that you can really help, virtual diary, but …) I talk to friends often – and if not, I read their posts on Facebook. Seems everyone is in the same boat. And the Ohio weather sure as hell isn’t helping. I am so tired of the gloomy, damp days – there have been more of them than ever before it seems.
Hang on. Hold the pen (or keyboard). WHY am I complaining? There is so much to be thankful for in this life right now. I have a home. Plenty of food in my kitchen. I have my health.
That’s it. I say it’s time I STOP feeling this way!
Diary, you should know, I have vowed to crawl out from my nice blanket. I will put on pants – even if they are yoga pants. I will brush my teeth, even my hair. And I will practice yoga EVERY DAY – even if it comes at 11:45 p.m. I will walk every day – weather permitting of course.
I know it won’t be easy, but I have to break this cycle.
What has helped, a bit, is having my eldest son, Zack, home with us. He has been “Quarantining” with us since mid-March, and boy does he love to cook – which takes a lot off my plate (PUN totally intended). It has allowed for me to concentrate on prepping for virtual classes for both our TKD students, and of course, my yogis!
Even writing to you, Diary, I have realized, the more I move, the better I feel. My neighborhood is so alive with runners, dog walkers, kids on their bikes and kids (and even adults) jumping on trampolines. How can I NOT be inspired when everyone around me is moving? We need each other now more than ever before.
If you are feeling a little down and out, that is OK. But don’t be down and out too long. Remember, we are on the OTHER side of COVID-19.
Thanks Diary, for being my sounding board today.
Till next time, Jeannette
