OCCASSIONALLY OFFERED CLASSES:
Restorative Yoga
A restorative yoga class may start with a gentle warm up, leading to supported poses. Students will learn to use blocks and bolsters in order to completely release into a pose rather than actively stretching. The pace is very relaxed and mellow. The poses/asanas are designed to bring one a great feeling of calm and relaxation. Due to the individual attention given to students, this class is available to only 12 people and fills quickly, so we require that you reserve your spot with payment in advance.
Spin, Yin and Vin
This three part Special Event class combines a spin bike warm up, a Yin Yoga practice and concludes with a little social time with like-minded individuals.
The Spin portion is a great opportunity for beginners to see what Spin class is all about! Always wanted to try Spin? Here is your chance. Spinning is a great warm up for Yin.
Yin Yoga is a practice where poses are held longer in order to get a deeper stretch into the connective tissue. Yin reduces stress and anxiety while increasing circulation, flexibility and joint mobility. It also stills, calms, and balances the mind and body. Yin (as opposed to Yang where one actively moves from pose to pose) is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine) and accessing deeper layers of fascia. Poses done on your bottom, back or belly.
Class concludes with time to sit with fellow students and enjoy a beverage and light snack. It is a wonderful opportunity to converse about whatever is necessary at the moment, whether it is offering one another support and/or humor and everything in between.
Self Defense with Jeannette and Scott
Learn how to protect yourself and become more aware of your surroundings. Jeannette and Scott hold Master Level Belts in Taekwondo, Black Belts in Hapkido and own Tiger Martial Arts where our Lagrange Yoga classes are held. In this two hour seminar you will learn to recognize potential threats to your safety, tips on how to diffuse dangerous situations and how to react if threatened. A good portion of class time is spent on drilling common sense techniques, learning to use one’s voice and practicing kicks, punches, stomps and more. Some weapons work may be covered. Their self defense classes are offered to groups of at least ten individuals. Class will be designed to work for the members of your group – school agers, teens, college students, older adults, etc. They love to do this for mothers and daughters, scouts, kids going off to college, women’s groups, etc. Contact Jeannette to set up a seminar for your group.
