February is American Heart Month – a month that reminds us that what we do and how we act ultimately affects our bodies. We are each only given one life, so it’s best to take care of it the best way we can. For some, taking care of your mind, body and soul is second nature. You may have been doing it all of your lives. But, like most, every now and then, even I need a small reminder of ways that I too can improve my overall heart health.
Here is a great article I found that gives you week by week ideas on how to improve your overall heart health.

And remember … a beating heart isn’t always a healthy heart,
so take care of yourself.

Inhale … Exhale at LaGrange Yoga
A beautiful evening of love, peace and healing brought to you by Lisa Morrison and Jeannette Benjamin. The amazing energy shared in this class can be beneficial to all.
Yin Yoga is a practice where poses are held longer in order to get a deeper stretch into the connective tissue.Yin reduces stress and anxiety while increasing circulation, flexibility and joint mobility. It also stills, calms, and balances the mind and body. Yin (as opposed to Yang where one actively moves from pose to pose) is designed to help you sit longer, and more comfortably in meditation by stretching connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine) and accessing deeper layers of fascia.
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle where one channels energy into the recipient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
This class will feature poses done on your bottom, back or belly. Please bring a blanket!
This class sells out quickly as only 10 spots are available. So, we require prepayment to reserve your place on the mat. Investment is $20 via PayPal at LaGrangeYoga@gmail.com or Zelle @ 440-213-8933.
Two words that mean so much
To simply say, “Thank You” to everyone who has shown my family and I love and support during the past several weeks doesn’t seem like enough. My family at LaGrange Yoga has truly been a blessing in my life; and after the passing of my brothers in November and December, the amount of calls, texts and messages from everyone showed me the true meaning family.
(And please, keep my brothers’ families – their wives, kids, grandkids in your thoughts and prayers.)
I never set out to teach yoga for the fortune. I set out to teach yoga so that people can feel better about themselves. So that they can find peace and calmness during trying times. So that they can become one with
themselves on a different level.
With that being said, thank you everyone once again for EVERYTHING!
This small community – and beyond – certainly knows how to
provide comfort in time of need.
Much Love,
Jeannette
Overcoming grief, sadness through yog
The photo here says it all.
ENJOY TODAY.
Let me be first to tell you that the month of December wasn’t all that merry. Without going into too much detail, a few weeks before Christmas one of my brother’s passed away and then another brother of mine passed away on Dec. 31. To say that life in general has been a struggle would be an understatement. Never in my years did I think I would be saying good-bye to two of my siblings within nearly one month of each other. Life has a crazy way of making us stop and think about well, life.
And that is where today’s mantra comes in — ENJOY TODAY!
It’s true — you never know what may happen within the next 24 hours. Take a look around you – have you taken a moment to look at nature? Have you taken a moment to look at the sky? (The other morning, the sunrise was spectacular!) Have you taken a moment to tell someone who much they mean to you? Have you taken a moment to give pause and just focus on your life?
One of the greatest aspects of practicing yoga is knowing it is there for YOU.
If you can’t make it to a class, or if it’s 10 p.m. at night and you need to forget the day’s stress, there is nothing stopping you from doing a few poses to regain your center. By grabbing a mat/towel, dimming the light, and playing tranquil music (or no music at all), you have all the tools you need to use yoga to help overcome grief and sadness.
Here’s an article that you may all find interesting if you yourself have been overcome by grief and sadness. Click here for the article.
Peace and Love,
Jeannette
P.S. I know I promised you all to talk about resolutions, but this was tugging at my heart-strings. And, I felt like many friends could benefit from today’s insight.
